All but two of the fourteen compositions are credited to one Jean Bordeaux, but his source of inspiration ranges fr…om Stephen Foster to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart via Huddie Ledbetter, Joe Primrose and whoever wrote Danny Boy, Frire Jacques and Just A Closer Walk With Thee. `Jazzed-up' versions of all these are to be found in glorious stereo, under titles that sometimes give a hint of their origin (Comin' Through The Chords is obvious, up And Rising for Frire Jacques is less so) and sometimes do not (Big Delight is clever for the Rondo alla turca by Mozart, but I don't quite see why Oh Susannah becomes Just Look; maybe for no reason at all, not even in C).

See Roy's entry in the Oxford DNB. He part-wrote and performed the perennially popular 'My Girl's Pussy', with other songs with suggestive titles. The two men's careers both began in the 1920s, and Daniels played in the band of Roy's brother Sid Roy. The two signatures laid down on an 8.5 x 7 piece cut from the leaf from an auto…graph album. Somewhat discoloured, otherwise in good condition. ONE: Signature of 'Harry Roy'. On 6 x 4.5 cm slip of paper. Large signature, with the downstrokes of the final letter y's extending unusually far. TWO: Signature of 'Joe Daniels'. On 8 x 2 cm slip of paper. Contains typed valediction of letter: 'Yours truly, / One of the Drumming Fraternity. / [signed] Joe Daniels'. The slip with Daniels' signature has been laid down over the bottom 0.25 cm of the slip with Roy's, covering the bottom of the 2cm downstrokes of his letter y's, but not in an obtrusive way.
