Purported to be letters from a young English gentleman banished to Paris in 1900 and there losing his innocence in various matters. The first edition, as here, is an elaborate and carefully-planned book both in design and physical construction. Various papers are used: simulated parchment for the 'letters', thicker stock for the illustrations, flimsy yellow for an appendix etc. Fine, with the small discreet blind-embossed stamp of Dr Trevor Weston to the corner of the rear endpaper).
