Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a glimpse into the political climate and social issues of France at the end of the 18th century, as seen through the eyes of those living in the rural areas surrounding the town of Thionville. The book presents a collection of 'cahiers de dolà ances', or grievance notebooks, in which the inhabitants of various communities outlined their concerns and proposed reforms in anticipation of the meeting of the Estates General in 1789. Together, these documents provide a unique perspective on the social and economic conditions in rural France, the hopes and fears of the people, and the growing unrest that would eventually lead to the French Revolution. Through the detailed descriptions of local issues and the impassioned pleas for change, the reader gains a deep understanding of the complex tapestry of French society on the cusp of a momentous historical event. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
