First edition in English, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with titles and decoration in gilt to the spine, blind stamped circular design to the upper and lower board. Lower page edges un-trimmed. A near very good copy, the internal hinge starting but firm, the binding with rubbing and bumping at the extremities, the spine and edges faded, with some fraying to the spine tips, corners and abrasions to the upper board, the cloth with some marks, the gilt oxidised but legible. The contents, with a pervious owner's inscription to the front free endpaper and the occasional spot internally, are otherwise clean throughout. Published as volume seven in "The Novels Of Fyodor Dostoevsky" series, some titles of which, as here, are the author's very first appearance in English. Later translated as 'The Adolescent' and 'An Accidental Family', this was Dostoevsky's penultimate novel. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Hardcover. Condition: Very good. First Edition thus. Octavo, 361pp., plus final leaf with chronological list of Dostoevsky's works. This volume represents the first appearance of "Nyetochka Nyezvanov," an early unfinished work by Dostoevsky, in English. A very good copy in the publisher's red cloth. Spine gilt dulled, the cheap paper evenly age-toned, and two near-contemporary ownership signatures on the front free endpaper. Paste-downs toned from binder's glue; an inevitability. Else clean.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First American Edition. Octavo, 637pp. Presumed early printing, though not the first, of this first American edition. Though the printing is not identified, there ere are six titles in the series opposite the title page, and we have handled another copy that had just two titles, which would presumably pre-date this one. Regardless, a distinctly sharp, clean example in the publisher's bluish-grey cloth, titled in gilt on the spine, with top edge gilt. Attractive bookplate to the front paste-down, which has offset slightly onto the opposite endpaper; overall about fine.

Hardcover. Condition: Good +. Later printing. Octavo, 312pp. Sixth impression of the first edition of the Constance Garnett translation. The "Other Stories" mentioned in the title are two excellent novellas by Dostoevsky, "Poor People" (often translated as "Poor Folk") and "The Landlady." A good or slightly better copy in the publisher's red cloth. Cloth somewhat soiled, spine dulled, and some gentle foxing to prelims; else a clean, sound copy. Seemingly one of the scarcest of these Garnett translation in early printings. Uncommon.
