Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. ROUTE 66 & THE AMERICAN WEST, 1953—LEE & DOTTIE MOZRHIG ROAD-TRIP PHOTO ALBUM & SCRAPBOOK. A carefully assembled and richly illustrated record of a married Wisconsin couple's 1953 automobile journey through the American Southwest, California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. The approximately 14½ x 12-inch album contains 100 pages (50 leaves) filled with an appealing mixture of original black-and-white photographs and contemporary ephemera. The photographs document the dramatic scenery and engineering landmarks encountered along the journey, including the Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Francisco, Yosemite, Reno, Salt Lake City, Denver, the Rockies, and Colorado Springs. The couple appear to have traveled by two-door Ford sedan, possibly along portions of Route 66. An especially appealing document of mid-century American road culture, tourism, automobile travel, and roadside ephemera, combining the personal perspective of an individual vacation with an extensive record of the places and businesses encountered along the way. Red faux-leather boards with screw-post binding. Many leaves have been individually repaired.…
