Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition, Illustrated Edition. "Donkeying Through Seven States" by Dryus Cook with its original dust jacket/wrap. 1933 presumed 1st edition. Privately published. With illustrations by Edith A. Roberts, and maps on the end papers. From the author's Preface: "This home-spun volume is the story, week-by-week, of my wife's and my eight-months' journey from our home in the artist colony of Woodstock, N.Y., to Southern Pines, North Carolina, and return. Time, September 3rd, 1932, to May 4th, 1933. It chronicles our ups and downs across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. The account mirrors our hopes, fears, anticipations - and realizations. It deals with our thoughts and spiritual reactions as well as with more tangible material of narrative. It is constructed on the assumption that any encounter on the road, however trivial, that releases a strong emotional or philosophical reaction in the author becomes justifiable material." Condition: The covers are clean with no issues found. Nice interior - the pages are age-toned and clean with no issues found. Overall the book is in Very Good+ condition. The dust jacket/wrap has some scuffing along the top edge, small bits of paper missing at the top-left front cover corner, and a 1.5" tear at the bottom-right corner of the spine. Overall the jacket/wrap is in Good condition.
