VOLUME I ONLY of a two volume set. Cardstock slipcase, H 40.5cm x L 33cm, toned and soiled with some stains as well as surface peeling/abrasion; seams and staples are firm; color pictorial title paste-on present upon right side panel. 35 pages plus 88 color plates tipped-in on rectos with captions on opposing versos. Hardcover: H 39cm x L 31.75cm. Dust jacket well rubbed with some surface abrasion, creasing, foxing, and toning; jagged tearing to bottom quarter of rear panel; chipping and other lesser tears at edges and flap folds (the book's slipcase is exceedingly snug which would make the insertion of a mylar protected dj difficult so hence a Brodart is not included). Dark purple cloth with vibrant gilt stamping to spine and front board; beveled board edges. Foxing to text block edges. Text in Indonesian, Chinese, English, and Russian. Two color decoratively illustrated endpapers. Stray lines of blue ink at bottoms of pages 25 and 31; some foxing and a few spots of soiling and scattered small stains to interior leaves. Binding is firm. A trained architect and an occasional artist, President Sukarno was a prolific collector amassing more than 2300 artworks by the end of his presidency with many of his premier paintings featured in this stray volume being prescient choices as they are now regarded as landmarks of Indonesian and Asian modern art. Unfortunately the Presidential Palace collections have been adversely affected by "loans" and outright disappearances since his passing as corruption has pervaded successive political administrations. Please note that this large book has an approximate shipping weight of 12.5 pounds (5.67 kg) and will require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail (international airmail to Europe or Asia will be between US$85-US$115).
