1 sheet (455 x 700 mm). Drawing in pencil, pastel, and gouache, signed. Large and beautiful drawing executed in pastel and gouache, depicting a lively scene of life in a bay in the Mediterranean, signed J. Duret. In the foreground, several ships of all sizes are stranded on a beach. One of them has its masts broken halfway up, sailors bustle about two of the boats, one of which is rigged. In the distance, 2 other boats are sailing. On the left, we can see the walls of a fortified city at the feet of which several figures stand. Opposite, on a steep pebble, stands the high tower of a lighthouse. A colorful sky at dawn shines a soft light on this corner of the coast which could be located in Spain.
