Publisher's original card dust-jacket, titles to spine and upper panel, advertisements to lower panel. Cloth bright and fresh. Leaves evenly toned, commensurate with age, otherwise clean and neat. Dust-jacket price-clipped, remnants of tape to flaps with corresponding marks to front paste-down. A near fine book in a very good dust-jacket. A scarce translation of the foundational text of Taoism, originally composed in the 4th century BCE, and first translated into English in 1868. This translation, by the Professor of Chinese at Leyden University, adds explanatory commentaries to each chapter.
