Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book serves as an invaluable reference work for scholars of German university and student life, with particular strengths in its coverage of the history of student fraternities and the role of German universities in intellectual life in Austria and Germany in the 19th century. The author has painstakingly assembled a collection of primary source documents, including lecture notes, university rules and regulations, and student publications, providing a unique insight into the daily life and experiences of students during this period. In compiling and publishing this collection, the author has made a significant contribution to the study of German higher education, shedding light on the evolution of the German university system and the role of students within it. The book offers a comprehensive Ãberblick over the development of German universities during the long 19th century and does so in a way that makes accessible to readers the social and cultural milieu of university life in that period. The book's greatest strength lies in its presentation of little-known and otherwise difficult to access documents, which will doubtless prove useful to scholars across a wide range of disciplines, including higher education, German studies, and the history of education. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
