Laid-in between pages 96-97 is envelope and brief missive to past owner from Professor Henry Beach Carre on Biblical Department, Vanderbilt University stationery dated for June 1915; laid-in between pages 240-241 is folded four page publisher's brochure regarding Edgar Murphy's "The Basis of Ascendancy" and "The Present South." Binding is firm. A very good copy. With Preface and appendices. Features eight chapters titled as: "The Old in the New," "Te Schools of the People," "A Constructive Statesmanship," "The Industrial Revival and Child Labor,": "Child Labor and the Industrial South," "The South and the Negro," "A Narrative of Cooperation," and "Culture and Democracy."
