Probably the emblem relates to Uppingham School, in Rutland, founded in 1584. This wonderful compact book is in very good condition and as its a used book normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. 453 pages all intact and in nice, clean, readable order. School prizegiving label to inside marbled boards dated July 1933. Previous owners signature on first blank page in pen and ink dated 1996. Gilt edge to top of papers.
