Hardcover. Condition: Sehr gut. Dust Jacket Condition: Gut bis sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 336 Seiten/pages with 270 color photos. - Ukrainian documentary photographer Boris Mikhailov (born 1938) is internationally admired for his intense, clear-eyed depictions of his homeland, the Ukraine--most famously, his portrayals of the everyday struggles of the bomzhes, the homeless, a class that dramatically enlarged after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Using this raw and emotive material, Mikhailov touches on themes ranging from the living conditions in post-communist Eastern Europe and the fallen ideals of the Soviet Union to the harsher trials of human existence. Although deeply rooted in a specific historical context, his work also narrates more accessible, personal threads of humor, lust, vulnerability, aging and death. This publication presents, in facsimile, Mikhailov s well-known artist s books Krymskaja Fotomanija (Crimean Photomania) and Mountains, each of which is 128 pages and which are here supplemented by 80 pages of informative, illustrated text.

Soft cover. Condition: Good. Scarce early Soviet postwar publication ? "The Second World War (1939-1945)", a compilation of translated materials under the editorship of N. Petrovsky. Issued in 1946, this collection presents political and diplomatic analyses of the war years, featuring a chronology of major events, international correspondence, and maps, including a striking red-and-black printed map depicting Allied counteroffensives in the Pacific . Original tan paper wrappers, printed titles to front and spine. Interior shows age toning consistent with 1940s Soviet paper, occasional foxing, and several faint spots. Slight looseness at inner hinge (see photo), but binding remains secure. Minor edge wear and spine creasing typical for fragile postwar stock. Overall condition: Good, preserved complete and clean with all pages present. Contains a preface outlining the book's dual structure and focus on political, diplomatic, and military developments of WWII. An authentic example of immediate postwar Soviet historiography.
