Softcover. Condition: Good. Reprint. This is the INDEX ONLY to The Blickling Homilies, which are a collection of anonymous homilies from Anglo-Saxon England. They are written in Old English, and were written down at some point before the end of the tenth century, making them one of the oldest collections of sermons to survive from medieval England. The homilies in the collection deal primarily with Lent, with items for Passion Sunday, Palm Sunday and Holy Week, as well as homilies dealing with Rogation Days, Ascension Day and Pentecost. The rest of the homilies in the collection are saints? feast days. Wikipedia. CONDITION: Reprint. Rubbed and soiled paper covers, small tear on front cover. Edge wear. Binding is tight, many leaves uncut at top edge. Deckled fore and bottom edges. Black title on cover, barely discernable on spine. xvi, 392 pp. Full refund if not satisfied.

Gilded page edges; patterned green endpapers. Decorative burgundy cloth with gilt lettering. 24.5 cm x 17 cm. No date of publication given; no copyright date. Copyright by C.R. Parish. Talmage lived 1832-1902 and this was presumably published just before his death, circa 1900.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair + to Very Good. Circa 1878. Six volume set, uniformly bound by SANCORSKI & SUTCLIFFE, London, for the Gardenside Bookshop. Bound in 3/4 leather and marbled paper, raised bands on gilt decorated spines, top edges gilt, with marbled endpapers. Each volumes contains 40 colour illustrations produced by Benjamin Fawcett and Alexander Francis Lydon, depicting Country Homes of the Nobility, Castles, Lodges, Historic Buildings and more, being complete with 240 illustrations, as called for. Each frontispiece has a protective tissue guard intact, with each volume containing a decorative title page, showing a colour vignette. Volume III - back cover detached, stains to front cover, with an edge damp mark throughout, not affecting the text, nor illustrations. Volume VI shows stains to front cover. Set lacks 3 spine labels, with a few chips to those intact, covers show light edge wear, hinges becoming dry, with binding and hinges tight.

The first 5 parts [of a total of 7?] published for the Early English Tract Society; bound in 4 octavo volumes decorated divinity calf, binding treatments slightly different; apparently bound from the original wraps, half-title present for Part I but no other title pages present; paginated continuously [7]-8, folding facsimiles, 9-288; vii, ii, 1a-6, facsimiles, 289-720; 721-1104; and 1105-1675. All text block square and tight, page edges stained red, pages clean and unmarked, marbled endpapers; leather is dry and rubbed, 3 of the 8 covers are detached but present, other joints are tender.
