Hardcover. Condition: Good. Hardcover with no dust jacket. Light blue cloth cover has blind emboss on face and black print on spine. Spine is worn, chipped and has minor tearing along the back edge. The cover has edge wear, somewhat soiled and bumped tips. Previous owner's name written on front flysheet, the pages are clean, slightly discolored due to age, have minor notation marks, and somewhat firmly bound. The rear flysheet has some writing and has been folded into a geometric shape. This book is in good condition.

Pale green cloth cover with black graphics and type on face and spine, has minor bumping to the tips of the boards, soiling, lightly crushed top and bottom of the spine and some staining to the back cover. Pages are clean, unmarked, lightly discolored due to age , front hinge is slightly loose at the top, but still fully attached, and the front flysheet has been torn out. This book is in good condition.

Moderate rubbing and wear to the binding.There is about a half inch tear to the cloth on the front hinge at the headcap. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Text is a little toned but is generally clean. There is a nice electrical-themed bookplate on the front pastedown for "George W.Pierce".

1st printing of 1st UK edition. Gell was Scott's traveling companion during his trip to Italy in 1831 & this edition is a reprint of the original Canadian 1952 edition which is the only complete edition of the Reminiscences. Fine trade hard cover book in fine dust jacket.

Many of his works remain classics of European and Scottish literature, notably the novels Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, Waverley, Old Mortality, The Heart of Mid-Lothian and The Bride of Lammermoor, and the narrative poems The Lady of the Lake and Marmion. He had a major impact on European and American literature. The Lady of the Lake is a narrative poem by Sir Walter Scott, first published in 1810. Set in the Trossachs region of Scotland, it is composed of six cantos, each of which concerns the action of a single day. There are voluminous antiquarian notes. The poem has three main plots: the contest among three men, Roderick Dhu, James Fitz-James, and Malcolm Graeme, to win the love of Ellen Douglas; the feud and reconciliation of King James V of Scotland and James Douglas; and a war between the Lowland Scots.
