All edges gilt. The 'Scottish Tourist' first appeared in the 1820s, and and went through many editions. It consisted of six 'Tours' through Scotland, and was a large volume. The publisher later issued the work in separate portions, to make the work more convenient for the tourist, and the present book contains the Tour from Edinburgh to Glasgow, Dumbarton, Loch Lomond, Inverary, Loch Long, Hamilton, Lanark, and Falls of Clyde. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board and blind stamped titling on the rear board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and staining to the boards. The corners and spine ends are bumped with a little damage and loss to the cloth at the spine ends. There are light dents near the middle of the fore edge of the front board and a little damage and loss to the cloth near the middle of the bottom edge of the front board. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few scattered small marks and stains, including some soiling and light staining to the title-page, and offsetting from the plates on the facing pages. There is no inscription.
