Photograph
Vintage borderless photograph of French chanson Edith Piaf performing at the Olympia in Paris, circa 1961. PIX stamp crediting Dalmas Agency on the verso, along with the stamp of the Westport Public Library. Piaf performed several series of shows at the Olympia between January 1955 and October 1962, largely in an effort to save the venue from bankruptcy. Piaf would pass away in early 1963 from liver cancer, and is today buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery. From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969. 7 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
