Eliza Williams accompanied her husband on a whaling voyage 1858-1861, had two children born at sea, and kept a diary. The second part recounts the destruction of the whaling fleet in the arctic in 1871 and the final part describes the voyage of the Florence from 1873-1874, from manuscripts by Eliza's son.
