Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This vintage, large 8vo pulp magazine is intact, complete, "good-plus." would grade higher save for two small holes to top left of front wrap near the letter "f" -- they don't penetrate into the text block, but look almost as though someone contemplated punching holes for mounting or storage in a binder. Marvelous color cover illustration credited to BOTH H.W. McCauley and J. Allen St. John, which is unusual. This issue also includes Robert Leslie Bellem's "Robots Can't Lie" and William P. McGivern's "Doorway of Vanishing Men." Calling Burroughs' 36-page story "Goddess of Fire" a "novel" is a bit of a stretch -- in fact it's the second of four interlinking stories (following "Slaves of the Fish Men", preceding "The Living Dead" and "War on Venus" -- published sequentially in Fantastic Adventures 1941-42, later fixed up into the Carson Napier science fiction / fantasy novel "Escape on Venus" (1946.) Reduced from $36. Cover credited to H.W. McCauley and J. Allen St. John / Interior B&W illustrations by J. Allen St. John (illustrator).…

paperback. Condition: Acceptable. Please see the condition note after this for details, if this is missing please consider Acceptable to mean poor quality that could include major staining, water damage, writing, missing dustjacket, etc etc. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Featuring works of more than 30 North American Native Writers & Photographers. Foreword by Leslie Marmon Silko and Introduction by Michael Dorris. "The publishers of 'Wisdomkeepers' are pleased to present 'A Circle of Nations,' a collection of photographs and writings by Native American artists and authors reflecting contemporary Indian life viewed from the Native perspective. In the pages of this book Indian people speak their own words and create their own images. "These are words and pictures with personality," Michael Dorris writes in the introduction. "They resonate with the tension of individual response and record the eye and the ear of their creators like bold artistic fingerprints." In every phrase and photograph we glimpse a piece of the Native American experience-and a crack in age-old stereotypes. These images and words draw us toward common bonds of humanity, but they do so without stripping away the essential differences that make Indian people who they are. There is a mystery in these pages-the mystery of things that only the initiated understand, the mystery that separates one culture and one person form another and that enriches us all." 128 pages. Prolifically illustrated in color and black & white photography. $39.95 in publication. Minor bump to top of DJ spine and mild scuffing to top corners, elsewise a fine copy! GC3.…
