The Young Turks of the Ottoman Empire in the 1890s & 1900s was a fascist political movement (a mix of nationalism, socialism and lip-service to religion): It saw no hope in religious conservatism, Sultanism (the traditional forces of Turkey) or Western liberalism. The Young Turks looked forward to a revolutionary law & order future, but, ironically, looked backward to the glory days of Sulieman the Magnificant, the height of Ottoman military power.
