It actually was adopted by some J-schools. It bears Introductions by Don Marquis, Christopher Morley, George Horace Lorimer, Franklin…P. Adams. He gives advice such as, "Newspaper verse should be as simple as Mother Goose." Not himself having written an Introduction, Edson supplied an Appendix, in which he explores a rather literary feud involving F.P. Adams and young F. Scott Fitzgerald, and also how fatness influences humor. [ Lee Morley bibliography C-6 ].
