Printed stiff wrappers. Very good condition, with light soiling, top corner of front wrapper clipped. [4], [40] pp., including 20 uncolored county maps. Published by and drawn expressly for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. Each map shows more than one California counties featuring rail lines, roads, and major cities. This issue was corrected to August, 1897. See Rumsey 4039 (1909 ed.) OCLC 4151124 & 78903472. OCLC lists several later issues, but despite this indicating that it was corrected, there are no listings of any earlier printings. Printed by D. S. Stanley & Co. of San Francisco.

First Edition. 6 3/4" x 10 1/2". 13, [3 pp business advertisements] pp. 4 leaves of chromolithographs. Illustrated wrappers in very good condition, with wear and chips along the edges; 2" closed tear on upper front edge with tape ghost on verso. Scarce; only 3 copies located in online institutions. An early tourist promotional booklet extolling the beauties and resources of Northern California. The lovely chromolithographs show scenes of Del Monte Hotel, Monterey; Yosemite Valley, Cal; Capay Valley; and Placer County Citrus Colony.
