Published by Self-Published, Goderich, Ontario, 1965
First Edition
Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Describes the histories of "three homes found in a group about one and a half miles east of Goderich, Ontario on number 8 Highway. They have long been of local interest and the cause of road stops by admiring passers-by. Few inland Ontario farm homes can count as a long-time occupant the grandson of an English Earl and reflect the gracious manner in which he lived as does the Curzon house. Few can rival the stateliness of the stone Rundle residence with its winding drive and its magnificent setting high on the banks of the Maitland River. Few too, match the eye-catching appeal of the Laithwaite farm with its pleasing one hundred and thirty year old farmhouse and its five lawns adorned with statuary. This book presents these homes not so much for their architectural quality or impressiveness, but for the eloquent record they furnish of the work, aspirations and everyday life of their builders and other occupants in the early years of [the twentieth] century." - Foreword. p. [4], 22. Black and white reproductions of archival photos. Clean and unmarked with light wear. A quality copy. Bishop p.1084.; 8vo.
