Previous owner's name else a clean, unmarked copy. The spine is square and flat. NOT a library discard. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. Softcover. 7" wide by 10" tall. Bound in the original stiff gray wraps, printed in black. Well illustrated with vintage photos of the Morris Canal and fold-out, color diagrams and drawings. 7 fold-out maps. Includes the report by Carrere & Hastings, Advisory Architects to the Morris Canal Investigating Committee of the NJ Legislature. Also has the report on "Suggested Improvements of Morris Canal in Jersey City" by F. Van Z. Lane, Consulting Engineer. Includes a 25 inch long fold-out diagram, (printed in black and red) entitled "Morris Canal, Proposed Extension along Second River." Another fold-out map, "Profile of the Morris Canal" with "Historical and Descriptive Notes" is 33 inch long. "Route of Morris Canal," a map that folds out 38 inches, locates all the canal's locks and incline planes. A fourth fold-out (29" long by 19" tall, also in black and red) is "Map Showing Route of Morris Canal from Hudson River to Main Line of the Central RR. of N. J. Together with Buildings and Railroad Tracks Immediately Adjacent Thereto." A fifth fold-out is a 39" long, detailed property map showing the route of the canal in red ink from Bayonne (Fiddler's Elbow) to the Hackensack River. It identifies the area's street names and lot numbers. Plan 6, Transportation Lines between New York, Newark and Patterson, measures 19" long by 19.5" tall. Plan 7, Morris Canal in Vicinity of Broad Street and Railroad Place, Newark folds out to 13'' by 10". Members of the Committee were appointed by New Jersey Governor Woodrow Wilson, President of the Senate John D. Prince, and Speaker of the House Thomas F. McCran. First Edition. Softcover.
