Heavy blind embossing and decoration of boards. Both the head and foot of the spine covering is missing, about 1 inch from the top and 3/4 inch from the bottom. Numerous signatures have shifted, but remain tight in binding. Hand-marbled endpapers have solid gutters, very small booksellers stamp upper front paste-down. Neatly inked property mark verso of fep, dated 1857. Frontis-portrait engraving and title page have faint lines, possible scrbble removal? Remaining text has yellowed with age and there is some foxing. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
