"Henri Bergson, che non amava molto il cinema, scrisse in L'evoluzione creatrice che per avere un'autentica intuizione della durata, bisognava sperimentarla, e prese l'esempio dello zucchero in un bicchiere d'acqua.  La lezione sembrava chiara: "Devo aspettare che lo zucchero si sciolga"; è nell'esperienza della visione e dell'attesa, quando la mia durata si fonde con quella del mondo, che emerge l'intuizione di una realtà in movimento. Ma può anche essere letto come qualcosa di completamente diverso: la natura quotidiana della violenza, della pubblicità, priva di soggetto, priva di significato, con gli stessi annunci PA e la stessa canzone appena udibile che crea il ritmo della colonna sonora, in un ciclo che rispecchia la sequenza di immagini sovrapposte sopra il monocromo blu di un cartellone pubblicitario. In che modo il tempo trascorso in attesa che l'immagine successiva si riveli diventa qualcosa di diverso da una vecchia melodia ripetitiva?
