D.), located at 73, rue Claude Bernard, was founded by the photographer Ernest Louis Désiré le Deley (1859-1917). The company was a major publisher of heliotype, bl…ack-and-white postcards. After Le Deley's death, the firm was run by his sons, but went bankrupt in 1930. Heliotype printing involved exposing a gelatin film under a negative, hardening it with chrome alum, and printing directly from it.Reference: E. Ouvrage en très bon état, dorures très bien conservées. Quelques frottements aux…plats, et le dos un peu ablîmé vers le haut. Intérieur et photographies en très bon état. Imprimées sur du très beau papier, sans rousseurs. Devant chaque photographie, une serpente est insérée .,avec un commentaire imprimé. Les dimensions du livre en font un objet exceptionnel. Non répertorié dans les bibliothèques françaises. E. Le Deley était un éditeur connu de cartes postales à cette époque. Photographies supplémentaires de l'ouvrage sur sur demande. The book is in very good condition, with well-preserved gilding. Some rubbing to the covers, and the spine is slightly damaged at the top. The interior and photographs are in excellent condition, printed on beautiful paper without any foxing. A tissue guard is inserted before each photograph, with an accompanying printed comment. The book's dimensions make it a remarkable object. It is not listed in French libraries.E. Le Deley was a well-known postcard publisher at that time.
