Published by Swan Sonnenschein and Co. in 1902. First published in 1897.In the publisher's original red decorative cloth, with all twenty colour plates containing over five hundred figures of beetles, including various types. Collated complete.As well as being a knowledgeable record of different types of beetles, Hofmann also details how one can catch and arrange beetles for collection. A popular book, the guide was praised for its attractive colour plates and the Hofmann's clarity. In the publisher's original decorative red cloth. Externally, very smart, with minimal marks to boards. Slight edge wear, with minor bumping to head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Marginal rubbing to joints. End papers are generally bright and clean, with slight offsetting to free end papers and the small spot to paste downs. Internally, firmly bound, with slight wear to hinge between pp.80-81.
