Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 3rd Edition. Surprisingly rare! And in very nice condition with ten etchings by Eugene E. Loving and a 1953-1954 calendar. "Born in Round Rock, Texas in 1908, Eugene Loving graduated from Round Rock High School ca. 1926 and moved to New Orleans, drawn by the French Quarter's artistic laissez-fai…re atmosphere. Loving became immersed in New Orleans' vibrant arts scene and became a member of the New Orleans Arts and Crafts Club. His work consisted largely of etchings and serigraphs, most of them depicting the streetscapes and buildings of the Vieux Carré with great sensitivity. He is presumed to have resided in New Orleans for the forty-five years spanning his arrival and death."' The Calendar was first issued on 1949 in a slightly different format, and the again in 1950, and this 1953-43 version appears to be the last. Eugene E. Loving (illustrator).

In contemporary hinged gallery mat. Etching in fine condition; mild toning and edgewear to mat. Loving (1908-1973) became something of a New Orleans fixture beginni…ng in the 1930s, when he first began turning out his exceptionally nuanced etchings of French Quarter architecture. The prints were sold through French Quarter galleries and on the street by Loving himself, and though the work probably fits under the broad umbrella of "tourist art," there is no question that Loving had exceptional technique and an unusual gift for capturing architectural detail. This is an attractive and characteristic example of his work. Signed.
