In 1948, him and his brother Wilfred founded the Shute Medical Clinc (Gary Kerhoulas in '100 Fascinating Londoners,' pp. 76, Edited by Michael Baker and Hilary Bates Neary, Toronto: James Lorimer & Company, 2005). Throughout their practice, the Shute's work remained controversial.
