The address reads, "193 Clark Street, Chicago." The directors and officers of the company are listed at the top. Dated December 31, 1895. 8 1/2" x 11." One page, complete. Letter is very clean and intact. Letter has a few vertical and horizontal fold lines, perhaps original. In this letter, the Southern California Investors' Excursion Company addresses E. Theo. Siefield, Esq. of New Haven, Connecticut. The letter is signed, "J. S.[?] Ralston, Manager." This letter is brief and Ralston writes about an enclosed item in relation to a request Siefield had made on October 7, 1895. Said item is not included with the letter. The Southern California Investors' Excursion Company offered public transportation services via train. Signed by Author(s).

The first of at least two editions of this rare promotional booklet with useful lists of social services (church directory, "secret societies," etc.), hotels and rooming houses, tourist attractions and tours, and advertisements for local businesses and tourist services. Unfortunately, this copy lacks two leaves (pp. 16/17 and 21/22) -- one of which is present, but clipped at edges). Apparently not in Rocq. OCLC reports two copies, University of California, Berkeley, and University of California, San Diego. The text is available online but, although defective, this rare original copy is worth preserving. (#167688).
