- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - First edition. This long poem in alexandrines applies to demonstrate, against the atheists, the existence of God and the immortality of the soul. But it is above all "a first attempt to elaborate a French kabalistic poetry". Guy Le Fèvre de La Boderie (1541-1598) was a student of Guillaume Postel, with whom he studied Hebrew, Syriac and Kabbalah. He participated in the editing of the Antwerp Polyglot Bible, Arias Montanus and Christophe Plantin. "L'encylclie" is dedicated to the Duke of Alençon, brother of King Charles IX, who had, at the request of his sister Marguerite de Valois, appointed its author his secretary and interpreter. The second part (pp. 164-344) contains a "Collection of verses" of which poetries in the honor of various princes and of Christophe Plantin. Le Fèvre de La Boderie was the friend of Ronsard, of Baïf, of Daurat and Amyot. "He seems particularly endearing by the deep taste of poetry in all its forms that he kept, his whole life, in the middle of the most arid studies." Portrait of the author on verso of the title. The privilege is dated October 23, 1570. Ruelens, De Backer, Annales plantiniennes p. 114: "Very rare." A work that was missing from the Barbier-Mueller collection, which is nevertheless very complete in Renaissance poems. A fine copy. -.
