Theodor von Faber a grandi à Magdebourg, et a étudié à l'Université de Halle, et Strasbourg. En 1789, il se rend à Paris et est entré 1792 à l'armée révolutionnaire française. Il a combattu dans la région Champagne et en Belgique, en captivité autrichienne qu'il a fui 1795. Il a été employé à Aachen dans l'administration civile française et était professeur à Cologne. En1805 professeur d'une chaire à l'Université de Vilnius, ensuite à Saint-Pétersbourg, où il a travaillé dans le service extérieur. Entre 1807 et 1812, il a vécu dans la Livonie, puis il était un fonctionnaire du ministère de la Police. Februar 1766greg. in Riga; 28. November 1847 in Paris) war ein deutsch-baltischer Jurist und Schriftsteller. Theodor von Faber wuchs in Magdeburg auf und studierte an den Universitäten in Halle (Saale), Jena und Straßburg Jura. 1789 begab er sich nach Paris und trat 1792 in das französische Revolutionsheer ein. Er kämpfte in der Champagne und in Belgien und geriet 1793 in österreichische Gefangenschaft, aus der er 1795 floh. Er wurde in Aachen und Cleve in der französischen Zivilverwaltung eingesetzt und war zuletzt Professor in Köln. 1805 folgte von Faber einem Ruf an die Universität Wilna, ging aber dann nach Sankt Petersburg, wo er im Auswärtigen Dienst tätig war. Zwischen 1807 und 1812 lebte er in Livland, anschließend war er Beamter im Polizeiministerium. 1816 wurde er Mitglied der russischen Gesandtschaft in Frankfurt a. M. und 1818 auf dem Aachener Kongress zum Wirklichen Staatsrat ernannt.
