First edition, one of 300 copies; not of the 26 signed & lettered copies. A handsome copy of this scarce chapbook by a pivotal figure of the postwar avant-garde. Starting out as a member of Jack Spicer's circle in San Francisco, Fagin touched nearly every major experimental movement in poetry (save, perhaps, for Language Poetry, which he derided) with associations to the Beats, the Black Mountain Poets, and the New York School. Fagin edited a number of essential poetry magazines of the Mimeo Revolution. First edition. Letterpress, type in green and black. Saddle-sewn in decorated yellow wraps. [vi], 8, [2] pp. 5 5/8 x 7 in. Very good; minor smudging to wraps, soiling to last two leaves at foot.

Cloth over boards with dust jacket. This is letter A from an edition of 12 hors commerce copies, lettered and signed. There are also 100 numbered and signed as well as trade cloth and paperback editions. Fine.
First printing. (6) pp., 8.5 x 11 inches. Side-stapled into printed wrappers. Printed by mimeograph. One of ten signed and numbered copies, out of a total edition of fifty. Mild darkening and foxing to edges of cover, and with a small stain at the top of the last few pages (not affecting text), otherwise very good. A complaint, in the form of a series of short poems, about having to do all the work of publishing other poets ("I am the little red hen / I work my ass off / for all the poets // And what do I get? / A pat on the butt / when the sun goes down"). Various second-generation New York School poets are called out by animal aliases ("Ted the Bear" Berrigan, "Ron Giraffe" Padgett, etc.), while the Little Red Hen confirms that they will do the work themself. Attributed to Fagin and Waldman (copies signed by each of them have surfaced, including one signed by Waldman "aka the Little Red Hen").This is number 4 from the ten numbered copies, signed "Sincerely, L. R. Hen" (in two colors of ink). Uncommon.

He's known for his language poetry and jazz influence. With an introduction by Bill Berkson and prominent blurb by John Ashbery on the rear. Unbound. Condition: Near Fine. Quarto leaf. Age-toning in the margins, old folds for mailing, very good. Envelope present and near fine. Fagin writes that "I like *Incidentals* a whole lot, it's so confident, almost casual at times; & especially the "culottes" poem, maybe almost perfect. He mentions other things he'd like to publish, or is publishing: "My own masterful RHYMES OF A JERK (Kulcher) is ready in April, with a cover by Edward Ruscha (toothpicks wrapped in cellophane against a 3-D linoleum backdrop)." and "The Poetry Project chugs on; let us know so we can pencil you in. Love, Larry." A nice association between New York poets.
