Mixing delightful illustrations with playful fantasy adventure, "Sir Archibald" is the story of a brave monkey who goes on a quest to retrieve the lion king's crown, travelling through harrowing wilderness and magical parts of the jungle. Wolf Erhardt Anton George Trutzschuler von Falkenstein (1902-1989) wrote five children's books under his pen name "Wolo"; after escaping Nazi Germany, he taught himself how to draw and lived and worked in San Francisco, where, in addition to book illustration, he painted murals and advertisement art. This volume is the first edition, and contains a special bookplate inscribed by the author. Not in Baumgarten. ___DESCRIPTION: Full paper with a full-colour illustration of the characters with title in black on the front board, black and brown lettering on the spine, plain orange paper on the rear board, endpapers with a map of the land in brown, title page with a full-colour illustration of the title character and scenes from the story, illustrations in monochrome black, brown, or full-colour surrounding the text throughout; quarto size (10.5" by 8"), pagination: [1-3] 4 [5-12] 13 [14-20] 21 [22-26] 27 [28-30] 31-32 [33] 34 [35] 36-37 [38-41]. Jakob) Rosenkranz ( 6.12. 1801 - 9.-9.- 1851) war Schüler von Reges und Radl. - Bekannt als Landschaftsmaler schuf er einige Vorlagen für den Wilmans - Verlag in Frankfurt, die dann als Umrißradierungen in den Handel kamen. ( Darunter auch Rheinpanoramen ). - Alt auf einen Untersatzkarton montiert und kaschiert. Unten rechts auf dem Karton mit Tinte: Rosenkranz ( signiert?). - Sehr schöne Skizzen von gekonnter Manier aus dem Erinnerungsalbum einer Freifrau von Stralenheim.

Söhn HDO 72707-6. Blatt 6 aus: Die Schaffenden, 1920. II. Jahrgang, 3. Mappe. - Der deutsch-schweizerische Maler, Graphiker und Holzschneider Walter Helbig studierte 1899-1903 an der Akad. Dresden unter der Leitung von Otto Gussmann Kirchenmalerei. Er hatte Kontakt zu zahlreichen Künstlern der Avantgarde, darunter 1903 mit Otto Müller, 1909-10 zur den Künstlergruppen der Brücke und des Sturms in Berlin sowie zum Blauen Reiter in München. 1909 Mitbegründer der Neuen Sezession und 1918 war der Novembergruppe in Berlin. Nach seiner Übersiedlung nach Zürich hatte Helbig Kontakt zum Dada-Kreis hatte. In späten Jahren wandte er sich wandte der Abstraktion zu. - Im breiten Außenrand ganz blasse Atelierspuren.
