At the time of its publication, there were only about 4500 speakers of the language in the world, and those lived in the foothills of the Andes mountains in Peru. This is a First Edition of that Bible, and it represented Wycliffe's 100th language translation. Prior to its pubilcation, Amuesha was purely an oral language, and the translators had to develop a written language first, including a new character set (similar to Spanish, but with several distinguishing characters).
