First Edition. Quarto. Black leather with Wyatt Earp's picture on the front cover, gold stamping on front cover and spine, [3], ix, 944 pp., Acknowledgments, Introduction, plates, portraits, Epilogue, Notes and Sources, Select Bibliography, Index. Considered the definitive biography of Wyatt Earp. A well-researched historical biography focusing on separating myth from fact by using primary sources, court records, and contemporary accounts. The book discusses myth vs. reality, examining how Earp's reputation was shaped over time . later writers and Hollywood often romanticized him. Also information of Earp's early life and his various jobs to include teamster, buffalo hunter, lawman, Dodge City and law enforcement, serving as a lawman in Dodge City. The central focus of the book is Tombstone and the O.K. Corral . details the buildup to the 1881 gunfight; explores the roles of Virgil Earp, Morgan Earp and Doc Holliday, and then after Morgan Earp's murder, Wyatt's "Revenge Campaign." Later in life Earp moved to San Francisco and Los Angles, becoming involved in mining and gambling. As New, without dust jacket, as issued. Signed by the author on title page.

Simulated Leather. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. SIGNED by the author with no inscription. Near-fine copy - would be "Fine" but - like several copies from the publisher - there is no picture of Wyatt Earp on the front cover and no residue to show there ever was one. Extremely light wear; appears unread. Signed by Author(s).
