Hardin?Simmons University (HSU) is a private Baptist university in Abilene, Texas, United States. It is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Featherston was one of its students at the turn of the 20th century. Written when he was 81 and in the hospital and published 2 years later. Hardin-Simmons had many famous students. Fess Parker of Daniel Boone fame on TV and Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson (Poker Player) are just two that come to mind. Nice and scarce little local Texas history.
