Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. Undated, circa 1945. Good+. No dust jacket, likely as issued. Boards are clean and in nice shape, though spine a bit concave towards upper half. There are no marks or writing of prior ownership and the binding is sound. Pages browned at margins. Ostensibly a book about the town's veterans, the second half of the book is actually a general history of Highland. Throughout, the book is heavily illustrated with family heirloom photographs, many of which are quite interesting. The service portion covers all wars up to World War II and includes a roster of Civil War vets -- page 119 briefly discusses the "Highland Guards", Company G of the 27th Infantry, who served at the siege of Vicksburg before joining the Red River Expedition under General Banks. Contains 345 pages, followed by about 10 pages of advertisements. Very scarce.
