V8 correspondant à la fin de l'énumérat…ion des actions), par ailleurs, quelques erreurs de pagination sans manque (p.175 chiffrée par erreur 108, p.236 chiffrée par erreur 210, p.300 chiffrée par erreur 240, p.301 chiffrée par erreur 257), ex-libris gravé du Docteur François Moutier, état satisfaisant. Troisième édition rarissime de cet ouvrage, après l'édition originale de 1550 et une autre édition non datée qui aurait également paru la même année et qui sont d'une insigne rareté. Notre exemplaire reste désirable, malgré les défauts énoncés, compte-tenu de la rareté de cet ouvrage et de son importance. Le dernier feuillet manquant est d'une importance minime, intéressant la fin de l'énumération (récapitulatif) des choses naturelles, développées dans le corps de l'ouvrage. La collation de notre exemplaire correspond bien à l'édition de 1571, seule l'édition de 1583 ayant le même nombre de pages mais avec correction des erreurs de pagination de cette édition de 1571. Ce livre eut un grand succès. On rencontre de façon moins exceptionnelle les éditions du XVIIe siècle, revues et corrigées par Jean de Montigny, parues sous un titre différent (La vraye methode de la parfaicte chirurgie) ; ces éditions ont perdu de leur charme. L'ouvrage proposé ici est important à plus d'un titre. Il s'agit de l'un des rares livres de médecine de la Renaissance rédigés en langue vernaculaire (français). De plus AMBROISE PARE s'est inspiré de cet ouvrage et A FAIT DES EMPRUNTS EVIDENTS pour la rédaction de son "Introduction" à ses oeuvres complètes dont l'édition originale a paru en 1575 (voir références ci-dessous). Hervé Fierabras exerça la médecine à Rouen au XVIe siècle. Il écrivit ce petit livre, en français, à l'usage des chirurgiens " commençants". La page de titre est ornée d'une vignette gravée sur bois illustrant l'intérieur de l'officine d'un barbier-chirurgien. Cet ouvrage sur "la méthode chirurgicale" est consacré à la physiologie, à la préservation de la santé et à la pathologie. Provenance : ex-libris du Dr François Moutier (1881-1961) qui s'illustra en neurologie puis en gastro-entérologie ; il fut un grand bibliophile. Il s'agit non seulement du fond mais de la forme. [Avec Fierabras] la similitude est particulièrement évidente pour les textes consacrés aux actions (les fonctions), aux organes sensoriels, au mouvement musculaire, au psychisme (pages 56 à 58 de l'édition Malgaigne), aux frictions, aux exercices (p. 70), à la mémoire.
