Hardcover. Condition: Fine condition. New edition. Square Quarto. Unpaginated. Original boards featuring Kusama art, housed in gold paper-covered slipcase with blind-stamped lettering on cover. Yellow and red endpapers. Originally published by Victoria Miro in 2008, new edition 2012 on the occasion of the exhibition from Februar…y 7 April 5, 2012. Beautifully produced publication featuring Yayoi Kusama's art. Her work has feminist as well as minimalist, pop art and abstract expressionistic attributes. The majority of Kusama's work presented in this two volume catalog feature her paintings, a few installations, small sculptures, and a brief photographic documentation of one of her performances. The photographs of Kusama's extraordinary work in volume one are by Alexander Atwater and Stephen Brayne, in volume two by Stephen White. Trained in the traditional Japanese painting style called nihonga, Kusama was touched by American Impressionism. She moved to New York in 1958 embracing the rise of the counterculture of the late 1960s. Slipcase with light rubbing.
