This copy contains four full page colour plates and there are many line drawings by the artist. Frances Browne (16 January 1816 ? 21 August 1879) was an Irish poet and novelist, best remembered for her collection of short stories for children: Granny's Wonderful Chair. Ref O2.

Frances Browne's best book which was out of print for many years after it was first published in 1857, But has never been out of print since it was republished in 1904 with an introduction by Hodgson-Burnett. Frances Browne was blind, but this book is remarkable for its brilliantly described scenes. 150 pp.
