Some visible markings on book cover, possibly water markings. This book does not have a dust jacket. Inside front cover contains the name of a previous owner written within dated Christmas 1922. Otherwise pages appear free of markings.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. De Yong, Joe (illustrator). 1st Edition. Grey cloth boards with black lettering on cover and spine. Spine is badly toned and slightly cocked; rubbing and toning to edges with fraying to head and tail of spine and corners. No dust jacket. A few pages signatures have started to crack, but binding is still fairly tight with no loose pages. Interior is clean except for light toning. Previous owner's name and address stamped on first free endpaper. Includes three black and white plates with illustrations by Joe De Yong. This first-person novel is based on the true story of Elijah Mounts, a young man who sought his fortune in the fur trade by working as a trapper in Montana. Frank Bird Linderman (1869-1938) was a Montana writer, politician, and advocate for Native Americans who spent about six years working as a trapper around Flathead Lake.

Illustrated Tan Cloth. Condition: Very Good- Near Fine. No Jacket. Joe De Yong (illustrator). First Edition. Cloth at spine ends is crushed, especially at the bottom. The bottom spine edge shows very slight wear. The spine color has darkened slightly. The illustratede cover is bright and clean. Lower front corners is very slightly bumped. Paper has probably slightly toned. Contents are as clean and tight as when published. No marks anywhere. 330 pages. Books are normally mailed within 24 hours.
