    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover, with dust jacket. First American (English) edition. Inscribed and signed by Viktor Frankl on the free front-end page. 8vo(5.75 x 8.5 in.). Black cloth over boards with orange titles over blue graphic. The spine features a variation of the same. It is very clean with no scratches or stains. The corners and edges are quite good with minimal use showing. Top-stained in yellow. Previous owner "Taylor McConnell" wrote his name, dated '57, on the same page as the inscription. The rear free end-page has a list of page numbers and some notes. Some of those pages have either light underlining or paragraph brackets, all in pencil. The dust jacket has performed its duties well but does show some wear. It is blue with black, white and orange elements, a variation of the book cover. Folds show some light soiling as does the white element on the spine. Edgewear showing on top and bottom, two small sections on spine are missing paper. There is a small closed opening on the front cover. The jacket is enclosed in a mylar sleeve, is not price-clipped and rated "good". The inscription is to the book owner Taylor McConnell and is largely illegible, though the words ".the soul of Taylor McConnell" come through clearly. Likewise, the date is clearly "25th, 1957" though the month and location are unclear. Historical records shows Dr. Frankl did a tour of U.S. universities in Sept.-Oct. of 1957, his first tour in this country. This book was, perhaps, signed while he was on that tour. All of this to say, Dr. Viktor Frankl was a significant figure in the field of psychotherapy. His methods and philosophy are still in use professionally. Some speak of him in the same mention of Freud, Jung and Adler. This title was the finished product of a manuscript he carried with him in a coat liner into Auschwitz, a coat he had to relinquish. It is a first American edition, intentionally inscribed and signed. It is rare, in good-very good condition. Please view the photos. More are available upon request. Inscribed by Author(s).
