Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Stated first edition. Original covers, 8 ¼ x 10 ¾ inches, 171 pp + index, illustrated with copies of some of the letters + maps, annotated, references. Softcover, very good. Ex-library. Covers laminated, moderate shelf wear, a few drop marks and smudges along edges of textblock, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Collection of 70 letters. The writer was wounded at the Battle of Shiloh, recuperated and then joined the Third (3rd) Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and served from Nashville and Kennesaw Mountain, Jonesborough, Atlanta and Macon under Garrard, Wilson and Kilpatrick. Rare; no copies on OCLC. History; military; Civil War.
