Tight and clean copy of the fifth edition that was printed after the copyright was renewed in 1959. "1952" is on the title page. First copyright is 1916. No names, notes, highlighting other than the name of a previous owner who used an ink stamp on the inside front cover, inside rear cover, the top and bottom of the pages and the title page, where he also used an embossed ownership stamp. Just in case there was any confusion about who owned the book, it's also handwritten on the front free endpaper. 883 pages. Maroon boards with gold leaf lettering on the spine. A very nice copy. I don't believe this book ever had a dust jacket.
