Pietro Selvatico aveva mosso critiche all'idea della giunta municipale di Padova di trasferireÂil Museo cittadino nell'ex Caserma del Santo al fine di salvaguardare lo stato delle collezioni. In questo saggio,Âl'Autore difende l'idea della municipalita' e spiega le ragioni di tale decisione. Scrive che - per difetto di stanze - "giacciono accatastati sui pavimenti piu' che trecento buoni dipinti mancanti della necessaria ventilazione ed esposti a sicuro deperimento". Selvatico - dal canto suo - sollecitava la costruzione ex novo di un edificio accanto alla Cappella degli Scrovegni.
