Frye did not fight at Waterloo, but visited there soon after the battle, including a detailed perspective on life in Brussels and on the attitudes of the inhabitants in the aftermath. His European tour lasted four years, through France, Switzerland and Italy, providing a record of Europe rebuilding after the Napoleonic Wars. Written by Major W. E. Frye. Edited with a preface by Salomon Reinach, a French archaeologist, religious historian and was a major figure in the Franco-Jewish establishment in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or pencil annotation. Minor age toning to the page edges. Further age toning and light spotting to the endpapers.
