Josef Sudek, Adolf Schneeberger, and Funke founded the Czech Photographic Society. Funke, Jaromir (illustrator). First edition. 8vo., 29 pp., 132 full-page photogravure plates. A light bruise to the lower front board tip: else very good copy in the photo-illustrated dust jacket. The dust jacket has three closed tears which have been repaired on the blank reverse. Jaromir Funke, 1896 - 1945, was first a medical student, then studied the law, and eventually turned his attentions to art and esthetics. By 1922, he was a freelance photographer in Prague and an associate of Josef Sudek, with whom he founded the Czech Photographic Society in 1924. He exhibited widely and taught photography at the School of Art, Bratislava, and then at the Graphic Arts School in Prague. He continued to exhibit and publish until his untimely death brought on from the privations suffered during the war.
