Blue textured Paper over Boards with gold lettering on spine. Light bumping and scuffing to edges of covers with a bit of the color scuffed off along edges. Binding tight. Pages lightly aged but otherwise unmarked. Dust jacket has a few 1" or less chips and tears and creasing along edges. Light overall scuffing, aging and soiling to jacket as well. Now in an archival-quality Brodart Cover NOT Ex-Library. NO remainder marks. [From jacket flap] The Waitemata is a big harbour: it is scenically beautiful; it is busy, it offers accommodation to an almost infinite variety of vessels both commercial and pleasure; it includes a naval base, Container ship facilities, amphibian aircraft, boat-building yards, several extensive marinas, a commercial fishing fleet; almost everything from a one-man canoe to the biggest passenger liners can be seen here. And, quite remarkably, it is so clean that people fish in it and around its periphery, and go swimming almost everywhere. Gainor W, Jackson knows the harbour intimately; He has spent a large part of his leisure time observing, sketching and painting. He is a sailor's artist, a man who gets his boats and ships right, as well as beautiful. And in addition he has given us a historical record ? from the first tentative encampments, the sailing ships and Maori canoes, right up to the present. It is mainly a pictorial record, but the text, in the form of sometimes lengthy captions, adds much of interest.
